The acetic acid in vinegar burns plant tissue and disrupts cell function, making it an excellent natural herbicide for many types of weeds. Higher acidity yields better results.
Application: Use undiluted white wine vinegar with at least 5% acetic acid. For stubborn weeds, look for horticultural vinegar with 10-20% acetic acid. Spray directly onto the leaves and stems of weeds on a sunny day. The acid works faster on warm, sunny days.
Timing: Apply vinegar in the morning when temperatures are rising. Most weeds will become visible within a few hours and will be completely killed within 2-3 days.
Best for: Annual weeds and young perennial weeds. More than one application may be necessary for established perennials.

Hot water shock treatment
Boiling water produces immediate results by literally boiling the plant cells and destroying the root system. This method is completely organic and leaves no residue in the soil.
Use: Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Carefully pour boiling water directly onto weeds, making sure to soak both the visible plant and the root zone. Be careful not to splash water on the plants or yourself.
