Then his eyes landed on me.
For half a second, Grant’s face went blank, as if his brain couldn’t process what he was seeing. Then the smile returned—forced.
“Claire,” he said carefully. “What are you doing here?”
I kept my voice steady. “I work here.”
Grant laughed softly. “No, you don’t.”
The HR director cleared her throat. “Mr. Ellis, this is Ms. Claire Dawson, Executive Project Lead.”
Grant’s eyes widened. He looked between me and my dad, searching for a joke.
